Electric Cars

Electric cars are not green, they use far more CO2 to build & the only people that can actually afford to use them will buy them as a 2nd car for a city runabout to avoid certain congestion charges.

The cost of the vehicles to the consumer is subsidised to the point that the tax take for an electric car is less than for a standard petrol or diesel car & the shortfall will have to be taken up by taxing traditional cars which will hit the poorer end of the community that can only afford to buy sub £10k cars.

The other issue the greens forget to tell us is that the 2nd hand market for electric cars will be non existent which is because of the limited life cycle of the batteries. New batteries will need to be replaced at a cost that will be comparable to the price of a new budget car in today's market place.

The greens also forget to mention that you could be refueling for 2 hours or more just to drive 30 miles on a cold winters day with the heater on the wipers & lights on & the heated rear window not to mention the radio, remember you may drive about 60 miles on one charge in the winter but you have to get back home so the practicalities are that these cars will be subsidised by the majority & driven by the wealthy few.
